ISD Corporation has sponsored a unique exhibition of icons

Traditionally ISD Corporation initiates and supports historical and cultural projects and exhibitions. Among them is an exhibition “The Glory of Ukraine: Sared Images from the 11th to the 19th centuries”, which is a milestone event in the cultural life of Ukraine and the United States. The exhibition takes place in Washington from 20th of October by 16th of January 2011. It’s a collection of icons belonging to an ancient Ukrainian monastery the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, items from the Lviv National Museum and a collection of ancient artifacts from the Museum of National Cultural Heritage PlaTar. Most of these objects have never been seen in the U.S. before.

In addition to the icons dating to the 14th century, a number of other unique liturgical objects will be on view, including crosses and ancient artifacts, among them pieces of Scythian gold and pottery from the 4th millennium B.C.

The given exhibition follows up ISD’s cultural and social initiatives. A number of other exhibitions have already been held, among them — “Ukraine to the world” in Warsaw; “Great civilization of an Old Europe: Cucuteni-Trypillia (VI-III thousand A.C.)” in Vatican and an exhibition “The Orthodox icon of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus”.
