ISD Supports the 4th Annual Cycling Race — The Grand prix of Donetsk

On the 17-18 of April 2010 a regular stage of the Grand prix of Donetsk, an international cycling race was held in Donetsk under the auspices of ISD Corporation. In 2009 the competition has been included into the calendar of UCI, the International Union of Cyclists. The contest which has been held for the fourth time running represents Donetsk region and Ukraine in the European cycling sports.

Traditionally the competition’s program includes two cycling races.

On the 17 of April there was a circular race with intermediary finishes in Artyom Street (it included 36 circles starting from Drama Theatre and ending at Shevchenko Boulevard). A cycling race among children for a distance of 100 metres took place before the start of a criterium race.

During the next day, the 18 of April the fans could enjoy the main event of a cycling week-end- a classical group race Grand-Prix of Donetsk of UCI 1.2 category (the distance is 168.5 km). The race took place outside the city through the towns of Ugledar, Pavlovka, Nikolskoye, Novotroitskoye, Dokuchaevsk, Yelenovka and Dolya.

Over 100 cyclists from 8 countries, namely Argentina, Italy, Belarus, Moldova, Poland, Russia, France and Ukraine participated in the competition.

A live commentary was made Sergey Kurdiukov, a renowned commentator from Eurosport-Russia channel.

Milan Dvorzhik (Slovak Republic), an international commissioner from UCI was the chief judge of the contest.

It has been due to the joint efforts of Donetsk Regional State administration, the municipal council, sports club ISD and ISD Corporation that the Grand prix of Donetsk cycling race has once more demonstrated a huge potential and prestige of cycling in Ukraine.
