Sergey A. Taruta, born in 1955, is a Ukrainian businessman, philanthropist and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ISD óorporation. He started his career at Azovstal steel mill in his home town of Mariupol after graduating from Mariupol Metallurgical Institute.
In 1995 he co-founded ISD Corporation, one of the largest private companies in Ukraine, a leading steel producer in the region of Eastern and Central Europe. Mr Taruta’s professional activity was recognized with awards for his outstanding personal and professional contribution to Ukraine’s economic development. It’s due to his immense efforts and enthusiasm, that ISD Corporation implements a number of reconstruction and production expansion programs at each of its enterprises. ISD Corporation with the annual production of 10 million tons of steel is one of top 30 largest steel producers in the world.
Besides being a successful businessman, Mr. Taruta is a known connoisseur of Ukrainian historic and cultural heritage. He renders support and oversees a number of charity programs that range from preserving cultural and historical legacy, supporting children and disabled people to developing sports and improving healthcare system nationwide.
