Industrial Union of Donbass Corporation is a holding company. It holds, manages and controls a significant number of multifield companies in Ukraine and other countries, represented mainly by the enterprises of ferrous metallurgy and heavy engineering industry.
Since the date of its establishment in December 1995, Industrial Union of Donbass (IUD) has steadily pursued its primary policy, aimed at:
- promotion of socially oriented market economy through reestablishment and maintaining the cooperation among industrial enterprises of Ukraine;
- increase of production volume and productivity;
- reduction of production costs.
For eight year period of its operation Industrial Union of Donbass has strengthened its position in the markets of Ukraine due to acquiring new enterprises mostly in the industrially developed regions of Eastern Ukraine. At present the Corporation controls over 40 major enterprises in metallurgical, mining, engineering, food manufacturing industry and agricultural sector.
According to the results of income rating for the period of 2000-2002 (Invest Gazeta financial and economic weekly), Industrial Union of Donbass corporation, along with the other two Ukrainian companies, constantly holds the leading position.
The strategy of the Corporation provides for crucial restructuring and upgrading of its enterprises. The total vested capital and investments made for the last two years exceed $120 mln. The volume of declared and approved privatization projects for the next five years exceeds $550 mln.
Recently IUD Corporation and its subsidiaries have won a number of international tenders relating to the construction of gas pipelines, by-product-coke batteries and natural gas supply.
Industrial Union of Donbass is the owner of ‘Shakhtinsky Engineering Plant’ in Russia (specializing in production of equipment for mining industry) and ‘UzNephteGazStroy’ in Uzbekistan, one of the major companies in the country specializing in construction of pipelines and refineries.
